The Tahoka Church of Christ began their in-church Food Pantry in the mid 1980’s with Faye Huff and our own Leona Strickland. Both of these ladies would shop for food and stock our church Food Pantry to help feed the hungry of our community. Today, anyone who needs food can cantact any member or contact the office at 561-4060 or cell: 759-1915. Anyone wishing to donate canned goods or non-perishable items may take them to the church or contact any member. Monetary donations can be deposited at either The First National Bank of Tahoka, or First Bank and Trust. Just make your donation out to: “Food Pantry.”
Mobile Food Pantry
The Tahoka Church of Christ imbarked on a partnership with The South Plains Food Bank in 2011 to be a SPFB agency for their once-a-month Mobile Pantry delivery. For residents of the city of Tahoka, this delivery is usually on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Each household applying goes through a screening process by bringing their proof of income and showing something that gives their home’s physical address (no P.O. boxes please). Approved applicants will be given a card they are to present when they come every month to pick up both a dry food box and a frozen goods box. For the Tahoka Church of Christ, Jack Scott and Kelley Scott can be contacted for information on signing up for the Mobile Pantry at: 759-3808 or: 438-3356.
